Grooming and Etiquette Training for Avondale Primary School Prefects Feb 2017

Schools in Zimbabwe have a culture of selecting exceptional pupils to lead and guide others.  Many of the prefects chosen assume the leadership position with little or no knowledge on how to operate and therefore require professional training on Grooming, Etiquette and Leadership.  On Friday 10 February 2017, Zimbabwe Institute of Diplomacy conducted a lively and much needed training on Grooming, Leadership and Etiquette for Avondale Primary School Prefects at Tamarind Lodge, Kariba.

The role of Prefect is an important one particularly to appointed pupils who will be accepting a position of considerable responsibility. It is also a very exciting one and will give the opportunity to develop leadership skills and have significant influence on the daily life of the school. The training covered various topics which include duties and role of prefects, Communication Skills, Etiquette, Assertiveness, Social Graces and Grooming and Deportment. This was an opportunity for prefects to interact with the teachers and break down the barrier between the two parties.

The training was meant to assist the prefects in fighting off fear and lack of confidence. Moreover, the programme helps the Avondale Primary School Prefects to define their goals and to be their best in all dimensions of their lives. It aids little ladies and gentleman to identify their challenges, choices, consequences and desired outcomes and be able to develop an effective game plan of life.
